Next deep dive. FlexForum Members are pretty keen on a deep dive into data and digitalisation. This is a nest of snakes desperately in need of a clear set of agreed facts about who needs what data and information, when, why and how. The ongoing angst about data and access indicates systemic problems that can only be addressed systematically through a whole-of-system conversation about current and future data flows across the electricity ecosystem. The conversation is a priority because a smart, flexible system is a digitalised system.
We will be scoping the task and working out how to get things moving alongside all the other stuff going on.
Flexibility Plan 2.0 was approved by Members on 30 April 2025. It will be published after a couple of final edits and tweaks, and we expect to have this ready to share with the public very soon. FlexForum will begin assessing progress against the plan in May.
Supporting learning-by-doing. FlexForum and EECA agreed in early March to work together to deliver a Scale demand flexibility demonstration pilot project that EECA is supporting and co-funding.
FlexForum is specifically providing EECA with coordination and reporting services, drawing on its broad membership, access to experts and stewardship of the Flexibility Plan. The project is expected to deliver key features of the intent of the Flex Day ideas by providing flexibility coordinators with a dynamic network-related cash signal to add to the value stack to explore the size and reliability of the resulting response.
More details on the project will be available soon.
